About the Program
Despite progress in healthcare, remote and tribal regions in Chhattisgarh continue to face challenges due to difficult terrain, scattered habitations, and limited access to health facilities.
To bridge this gap, the MMU program under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN) acts as a last-mile healthcare solution, delivering services directly to communities.
The MMUs provide free doctor consultations, nursing care, diagnostics, and essential medicines at the doorstep, ensuring timely and accessible healthcare for underserved populations.
Our Goals
Improve access to primary healthcare services for remote communities.
Enable early detection and management of diseases.
Reduce out-of-pocket healthcare expenses for families.
Strengthen community-level health awareness and education.
Process
MMUs follow fixed routes covering identified villages and habitations.
Local health workers inform communities in advance about MMU visits.
Consultations, diagnostics, and medicines are provided at the location.
Patients requiring advanced care are referred to higher facilities.
Key Focus Areas
By overcoming financial and geographic constraints, the MMU initiative under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN) delivers timely, dependable, and equitable healthcare services directly to remote and tribal communities across Chhattisgarh.
Problem Statement
Many tribal and forested areas in Chhattisgarh have poor road access and scattered habitations. MMUs bridge this gap by delivering healthcare services directly to these remote communities.
Traveling long distances to district hospitals is costly and often unaffordable. MMUs provide free consultations, diagnostics, and medicines, significantly reducing financial burden on families.
Shortage of doctors and functional health facilities in remote regions leads to delayed care. MMUs ensure regular availability of primary healthcare services at the doorstep.
Limited awareness on preventive care, nutrition, maternal health, and NCDs contributes to disease burden. MMUs actively conduct IEC/BCC activities to educate and empower communities.
